I don't know if "cuteing" the mufflers off is such a good idea. If you are planning on replacing them, the get a staight through style one or two. You will prob be running a little lean so get a TII fuel pump (by the way I have one if you want it) or a walbro from rx7store or what not.

why

why would it not be a good idea to cut the mufflers off. i i was thinking of buying to performance mufflers. but i dont have enough $. so i just thought of just cutting them off and welding to pipes in their place. so it looks like they at least have one. any suggestions? how much for the gauge? where can i get one? and how does it work?

well if you are going to drive the car on the streets you need mufflers. Have you ever heard a car w/o them it is loud as f*ck. You can get a cheap a/f gauge from summitracing like I have but it wont tell you much. Just get a better fuel pump and youll be fine.

Um, you do realize that you can't run an NA rotary open-header on the street, right? In fact, it's too loud for most race events, and it may possibly crack the windshields of cars behind you.

Here is a good link for AFR gauges that I stole from the Celica crowd.

My recommendation is that you spend your money on parts that you really need, rather than on things like headers and AFR gauges. I know that we all like the high-performance stuff, but sometimes you just need to suck it up and drive on. It is much better to drive a "slow" RX-7 around town, rather than to have one with really nice headers sitting on blocks in your driveway.

BTW, you can get good power and torque from a long primary exhaust like I have on my 1Gen race car. It only requires one muffler, and you could use old gutted-out cats as presilencers.
