modifying BAC for 87 turbo

I have a unique problem where the green BAC electrical plug on the right side of the valve is in the way of a line of mine. For anyone who has disassembled the BAC, I would like to know if this plug can be rotated to a different position. Thank you for any input.

Be patient. Some of us WORK for a living.

The jack can only go two ways, 180 degrees out from each other. But, to do that takes some creativity.

I jpg'd two pictures. In the first one I wrote the words POTTING COMPOUND and pointed to the area with potting compound.

What they appear to have done, is locate the jack on the body and then pour pottiing compound into the area that is sort of dark green/black. Unfortunaltly that potting compound makes the jack almost impossible to remove from the body because the compound sticks to the jack and the body making them one.

REmoving the allen bolt, spring and other parts seen in the jpg, will not allow the jack to be removed from the body. You have to strike the jack (jack being the green/blue part on the outer side of the potting compound with the two blade connectors), several times to get the potting compound to seperate the two parts.

EVen then you can't just rotate the jack 180 degrees because the potting compound will not let you mate the jack to the body. The potting compound breaks in a irregular pattern so it is'nt going to mate if you turn it one eighty.

But, you could dremel the potting compound in the mating areas and maybe get it to mate.

On the whole, it can be done if you use your head, but takes time and effort.

By the way. The allen bolt was held with locktite/vibratite and I had to drill it out. I think that allen bolt is used for adjustment at the factory, so then you have that problem to contend with when you put it back together..

Thank you very much. That was very helpful. Oh, I wasn't being impatient really. I was really just bumping the message because it was already half way down the second post page and so I was affraid nobody would see it. Guess I should have just written "bump". I work too; 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Thnks again.

My bad. I realized that much later in the day.

On the whole I'd say it isn't possible to rotate that electrical connectiion 180* with any reliability. That's a old n/a bac that I tore apart. I'll chunk it rather than reattach the end.

The jpg's are a bit useless. They are done on a scanner and they are not lit up enough for good definition.
