Years ago, when Icemark was still around, you could have him modify your headlight switch to where the buckets remained retracted even w/ the lights on, unless you flicked them up with the "raise to clean" headlight switch. I've got a light switch all torn apart, & I imagine it's just simply cutting a trace coming from/inside of the sub circuit for the turn on headlamps/raise headlamps combination.

If anyone knows of what to cut, or the like, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you cut the line I show in the attached jpg that would leave the headlight assys down when the headligt switch is put to ON. Lights would light up.

Then turning the *other * **** to UP would make the headlight assys come up.

Looks like that cut line is off the relay inside the switch assy.
I don't care to remove a headlight switch out of my car to find out where that line is. Done with this thread.

EDIT: Nah. I'm wrong. That's not the trace/line. Should cut the trace b/t the relayand the On switch so the relay won't pull in.

The second jpg attached is the right way. I vote for that jpg over the other. You need that relay to stay in the switch but need to disable it from pulling in........by cutting one or the other traces to the relays coil.

Thanks, but that makes the lights turn on when the car starts, I'd just like mine to not flip up when I turn them on. Cheers though!

 

Interesting...If FTP's actually provided enough light to drive with I might do this myself.

Where Landon and I live, the FTP's are plenty enough light to drive by. there's rarely a dark road in this county.

Anyways, I took apart the spare headlight switch I had and took a couple photos of the board. Like most of the electronics on these cars, the wiring diagram only shows you a simplified version of what's actually in there.

Whatever jerk at Mazda came up with the idea to fill the screws with solder should be stabbed. That's just mean!
