missing out at all speeds

car was running fine then started missing out for 2 to 3 seconds about every 1/4 mile or so, doesn't matter the speed or gear. Change fuel filter with no results. worried about driving it so far it has never completely stopped. just waiting for it to do it in the middle of downtown.

could be lots of things...
intermittent ground
intermittent sensor failure, causing ECU to "hiccup" to limp mode
water in gas
injector plug(s) loose
intermittent spark (bad ground, loose connections, coil going,etc...)
Take a good look around the engine bay, paying particular attention to all plugs, security of components, harness for chaffing to ground, etc...
