Question Missing cover plate on flywheel?

I was pulling my manifold off today and noticed that there is a hole to the left of the oil filter if you are looking at the car from the front. I can look in it and see the top of the flywheel. It looks like there is supposed to be a cover plate...? I dont think it would be good if things fell in there...

I could have sworn there was one on the core I sent for my new engine. So I made a new plate from stainless steel *shrug*
