miss after 2000rpm?

hello all,
new to the fc na and am going to pickup one for 350 that runs. so here's the problem.
it idle's just fine and doesn't smoke after start up. no leaks, no weird noises, nothing out of the ordinary that i could tell, however when you rev it up slow or fast right around 2k and on it sounds like it's missing. the guy says that he was told it was an apex seal that has collapsed, but like i said i don't know.
what i have chalked the problem up to is either something to do with the ignition or maybe the fuel pressure regulator?
granted this is based off of my basic limited rotary knowledge.

thanks guys and gals
i appreciate any and all help.
thanks again
Jessie

Compression check it.

http://www.banzai-racing.com/compression_test.htm

And read the WHOLE article, especially the note.

If the body's in good enough shape, 350 isn't a bad deal. Swap in another engine or rebuild it. It's not that hard really.

it was a good deal really, because i have a friend that works at one of the local junk yards and he told me that an na fc just came in with a damaged rear end and the engine ran. 120.00 and i had a new engine and sunroof (mine wouldn't open) so now it runs. so less than 500.00 for a daily im happy just hopefully nothing goes wrong.
