miata shifter

i was browsing through the local junkyard and found a mid 90s miata and i decided to take a test fit in the seats since i was in the market for nice comfy seats...well..i noticed that miata shifter has the same bolt pattern as the fc...it is also shorter... now my question....does the shifter fit in a 7?....how bout the bushings?...

Interesting! Is it worth while finding a used Miata shifter instead of buying a STS kit for $200. Is the thread the same as the S5 and FD?
