Miata Gears in a N/A tranny

I noticed on the Pineappleracing.com site they had a Miata gear swap for the N/A transmissions, has anyone done this and if so what was the net benefit you saw?

The shift from 2nd to 3rd gear in a first gen box is pretty large. The miata 3rd gear just brings it down a little more. Very helpfull for low budget road/auto crossing. CJ
