Miata 6 speed trans and LSD question?

Hey i have a chance to get a 2001 miata 6 speed transmission for a good price and was wondering if it would bolt in or what all i would need to put it in my 88 GXL?

Also I can get a my hands on a 90-93 1.6l Miata LSD for a good price and was wondering if it would bolt right in also.

i'm not sure what will bolt right in, but I do know the rear diff out of the 1.6 L ('90-93) miatas are not known for being very strong. I have even heard stories of stock miatas with sticky tires blowing out the rear diff. I'd be a little hesitant to use anything out of that, one from a newer 1.8 L miata should be a good bit stronger.

the 90-93 Miata diff will not fit in a 2nd gen, only in the SA/FB. It is a 6 inch gear set/rear end.

Non turbo FCs and 94+ Miata use a 7 inch, and Turbo FCs, FDs, and FEs all use a 8 inch rear end gear set.

You should be able to make the 6 speed fit. Miata guys use TII trannys in high horsepower applications, and apparently the NA FC and miata trannys are very similiar (you can swap internals between them, the bellhousing etc are different, but the case is the same, or almost the same). You will need to do some work to make it fit. Try asking the miata guys about it. www.miata.net is an excellent resource, check the forum and the garage section.
