Meter bus fuse blows when shifting into 5th gear

I noticed my “METER” (gauge/instrument cluster) bus fuse keeps blowing after I shift into 5th gear. It only happens when shifting into 5th gear. Before I dig around for the problem, has anybody had an issue like this? This is on a 87’ Turbo II.

Hm. I want to say there are two things that sense when you're in top gear.. the 5th gear switch on the side of the transmission, and the ACV. Try unplugging one at a time and see if the problem goes away.

This problem is as Aceanugal has said. If you jack up your car and crawl under it. You look on the drivers back side towards the top of the transmission. There are like three connections back there. Make sure they are clean and have good connection. I didn't have to replace anything it was just the connection was bad when i had this problem.

Just to clarify, did you find/resolve the problem, or are you just saying thank you for the input?

The tranny has a neutral position switch with its own connector IIRC, and another switch which is the 5th/reverse switch with four wires which may be switched up. Are your reverse lights working? Maybe one of the wires is shorting to ground? Any recent work around the tranny or was it removed?

I was saying "thank you" for the input, but I'll know for certain what the issue was soon; i'll provide an update later. My reverse lights work fine.
