Unhappy Melted Wires!!!! Help!!!!

Im installing a FMIC I put all the stock stuff back on, and started down the street. about 100 yards from my house the car dies wont start and I can smell burning. I push the car home open the hood to find.........The three wires that come up by the radiator (one is a loop with a plug not sure why the other bolts to the top of the radiator) are melted together and exposed the head lights stay on even thought there down and the car is off, the EGI COMP fues is melted and the wire going to the harness and other wires are melted in the harness, I think that EGI wire melted them, not sure how far it goes didnt feel like messing with it this late. my brother thinks I cut into the radiator wires they grounded out witch caused the other wires to fry. what do you all think??? any suggestions on what else to check??? any help would be great!!!!

THANKS ALOT
Josh Greene

It depends on how much damage was done.

Once a primary wire melts through others in the harness, it may be better to just pull & replace the harness.

I figure that I may have to replace the harness, my main concern is the cause. if I did cut into the wires going up to the top of the radiator could this have caused the damage on the other side of the car. the radiator wires are on the passanger side and the EGI wire is on the driver(im sure most knew this)

I suspect you shorted the +12 wire to the headlight relay.
The others were all caused by that.

You might want to find a way to fix it without replacing the harness in my opinion unless you like spending acouple of days pulling a 40 pound harness out. It goes from the ecu behind the dash to the fuse box to the coils and around the front of the car with all the lights.
