I've been in on both group buys, and can say it does take patience, as it is a few months between mailing the cheque and getting the goods. Fortunately that is being addressed. See below.
SonicRat: Regarding group buy: Bruce and Al are moving towards packaging a kit containing board, box, cpu and perhaps map sensor. These would be 'in stock', shipped on demand, with all the fiddly little parts ordered via Digikey under a single part number. You will need to watch the mailing list for details.

nonameo: The blank CPU cannot be easily programmed in-circuit. It must be first pre-loaded with bootloader code that will manage the download and re-burning of code. Then the chip can be in-circuit flashed. Without bootloader, you need a chip programmer. Many folks have them on-list (had a group buy for them, actually - see 'Willette programmer'). If you already have access to a chip programmer, then just download the code, burn the chip, and you are ready to go.
hugues: Stock Mazda temperature sensors work fine. The embedded code can be modified and re-burned in seconds if you know three temperature/resistance pairs. See EasyTherm4 in the files section of the Yahoo site.
From day one MS has supported boosted applications, although in the first group buy, the purchaser could choose the 1bar or 2.5bar map sensors. The second group buy was set with the 2.5 bar map only, with n/a applications simply using the lower portion of the scale. Works just fine, and simplifies code variations. A few users have swapped to other map sensors, either to up the boost limit, or simply utilize what already exists in the engine compartment. Some code mods are required for this.
Ignition: MegaJoltLite is close to release, but does not support the rotary leading/trailing split out of the box. Some code mods will be required, although there are enough folks interested that it will likely come together fairly quickly. For MJ details (site not yet complete), see:

I hope they could sell in stock on demand, I think that'd be beneficial for them instead of everyone having to wait for months to get ahold of it. I'm mostly wondering how you're controlling your injectors and what your VE table looks like

Looks like it should do the job. I wouldn't worry about the programming side, though. It only needs to be done once, and then all further code changes can be done in-circuit via bootloader.

Hehehehe this is going to be loads of fun....
I've already learned a bunch of stuff about the hc08 line of proc's... I should be able to get one for $8.00 from a place called www.futurlec.com. We already have loads of crap lying around the house electronic wise (lots of small packages of resistors, transistors, diodes, etc...) I wonder if this should work fine on a prototype board though. Don't see why not...

What are you going to use for a PCB? I'd buy some blank boards from radioshack and run the traces myself, but that's an ugly mess when it comes down to it, and damn near impossible to troubleshoot. I've been wanting to get on the group buy for a while, but it seems I missed my chance! Renn has provided me with a ton of info and the setup he's running now, and I'm looking forward to doing it myself on a 87NA. I wonder if we can use these to rid ourselves of those god damned series 5 mop's ;-D (of course, ignition needs to be taken care of then)

OK guys,
For those truly interested in building a MegaSquirt kit, here's your chance. Attachment below from the Megasquirt Yahoo group. Bruce is 1/2 of the B&G combo that designed, produced, and offered to the masses their design. Get on that mailing list, watch closely, and you might get one of the 70 partials. The last time the order page opened for 30 or so remaining kits from non-paying group buyers, they were gobbled up in something like 20 minutes!

We are on the verge of releasing about 70 partial kits for sale in the next few days - Al is finishing up the order web site as we speak.
In addition, we are ordering a large quantity (hundreds) of PCBs and programmed processors which Al will keep in constant supply. This, coupled with the Digi-key ordering method, should keep up with the MS appetite. I am ordering these next week and should have them within 4 weeks. The plan is for Al to keep PCBs and programmed processors in stock in constant rotation.
People will have to perform three steps for a complete MS: get the PCB+Processor from Al, the components from Digi-Key, and the case from someplace like HdB Electronics or similar.

SonicRat, the relay kit is nice, but not critical by any means. If you are converting an already efi'd vehicle, and re-use existing harness, fuses, etc, then its value is low.
