Mechanical OMP Sohn adapter

Looking for a Richard Sohn style adapter to run two stroke oil to the OMP. Mechanical S4 type.

I emailed the company and it seems they've discontinued production due to low sales.

Are these impossible to find now? I've been researching past threads about modifying/tapping the OMP itself, but not certain whether it would be as effective. Anybody have a DIY setup similar to the Sohn adapter? How hard is that thing to fabricate?

It's not hard to fabricate. It's a block drilled with the metering oil pump mounting pattern, with a passage from a 1/8" NPT thread to the pump oil input. Two drills at 90 degrees. There is also a small shaft with slot to match the metering oil pump key, and a key to connect to the shaft in the front cover. Not terribly hard to fabricate the block with hand tools. The shaft would be best done on a mill.

Just wondering, why?

I know it's not entirely necessary at all. I premix my car and the OMP works, but I had been really interested in the idea for some time and already sourced a nice reservoir. Was bummed that I couldn't get that adapter.

Thank you for the explanation, Aaron.

For what it's worth, I ran one of these and decided to ditch it. I was not convinced gravity feed provided the same stable oil supply as would be provided by the ordinary oil supply through the engine front cover. That and I am not convinced that there is anything wrong with the factory system. Carbon build up is more a symptom of incomplete petrol combustion than the oil metering system, as verified by engines running on straight propane and factory OMP that exhibit no signs of any carbon buildup whatsoever, but do have a lovely film of unburnt oil left around the housings.

If you do want to do this, you can modify the OMP quite easily and there is no reason this would be any worse than the adapter. There's a nice writeup here: http://www.ausrotary.com/viewtopic.php?t=247547

put a WTB ad in the classifieds, chances are someone has one sitting around they never bothered to use
Just an FYI though- its almost just as much a pain in the *** filling a reservoir as it is just adding it to the tank, the only benefit is less smoke at low RPM

I havent used mine in forever, once in a while after the car has been sitting I might put some in there so it kind of double oils but I stopped using it a while ago.
