Mazda screws us over again...
Ok, so I was on my break at work today and thought I'd call around and get some prices on a new TPS for my '91, here's what I found:
TPS for a 1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 - $26
TPS for a 1991 Mazda RX-7 - $329
Spending $300 more on a part than a domestic owner - Priceless

that is mainly due to the fact the ford part is made here in the us and sold here, as Mazda makes them in japan, also due to the fact we continually get it in the ***, get a used one.

hmmm... I think it has more to do with the fact that there's two of them... the 1990+ 300zx TPS is only $27 as well. oh well, off to mazda recycling/junk yards

thats list price. The price is so high because there are so many middlemen. Mazda buys the part (from Denso, Yazaki, etc) Mazda North America buys the part from Mazda and ships it over. Then its sold to various Dealers and then sold to you. Its capitalism, what can you do.

If you buy them used, chances are you will get another bad one. Get 4 or 5 used ones at once. 2 or 3 will probably be keepers. That way you will have some spares on hand, when your new-used TPS goes bad.

speaking of GM, i have an O2 sensor for a 90 chevy truck in my 91 Coupe. anything wrong with this? the dealer wanted like 167$ for this part, i paid less than 30$ for the GM one at pep boys. also, how much should a used TPS go for? i was at a junkyard and asked the price for one. the guy figured they went for like $50 or so (i dont remember exactly, i think he said at least 50, though), in which case, i couldn't afford to get 4 or 5. so what should they cost (considering that it would work)??
