Mazda Dealership told me...

Ok, I took my FC into Mazda yesterday, they are telling me that a screw that should never be tampered with has been, a back-valve has gone bad with some piece of wax that has gone bad, and that the throttle body has gone bad. -- they said it would cost $2500 which is so much BS!!

FlyBy116 is telling me that it's probably some stupid problem in which I don't doubt, but I'm hella scared that I'm gonna have a big problem here. They said they did a vaccuum leak check and didn't find a leak anywhere, but keep in mind that this is a greedy dealership here...

I need someone in my area (Oklahoma) to take a look at my car.... please!!!

Whoa. dont worry, it will not be 2500 to fix.
The BAC (bypass air control) valve controls the additional air into the manifold to compensate when your using PS and AC.

The thermowax is for startup procedure. That can be removed in conjunction with the TB Mod.

The "screw" is either the TPS set screw or the screw on top of the TB which adjusts idle. Both can be readjusted easily.

Do a search on "TPS", "BAC", and "TB Mod"
Spend a few hrs reading all the various posts out there on these topics and then you will have a better idea of what is going on.

Already posted in your other thread. I can say 99% that is isn't what the MAZDA dealer is talking about. Unless the trucker sat on the intake and broke all that ****. You don't have a major problem. The one problem you do need to address is the fact that you don't want to learn or do much. You have cash to buy the car I assume you have more so go and buy a 3 dollar can of carb cleaner and some silicone hose. If Nick didn't have any trouble with the car on its way to you then it probably isn't the TB. It is probably a line that god bumped off the fitting on the road to OK. You can just simply look around the engine bay and look for hoses that are not on properly orare off completely. A vaccume leak is SIMPLE to fix. The only hard part is finding it. I am sure you can get the car to idle by raising the idle screw a bit. You say so don't have time to search well here is something to think about. You have posted about four or five threads on this tiny problem you could have fixed quickly had you take that same time of posting threads and used it with the search button to find the information on how to fix your problem.

For once I think he is right. You don't buy a heavily modified car and then take it to the dealer. You either figure it out yourself or take it to a rotary pro.

I already explained how to do just that to him, and if it wasn't at the dealer already, he would have.

Pinfield, you may respect him, as do I, but that doesn't change the fact that he's an ***.

WARNING: COMMENTS ARE MADE BY AN ***, proceed with caution!!!!

Look I act like an ***. YES but I do think you could have solved this by reading on your own. You are 16 and have a 6k+ dollar car. I would say either you sold a kidney, your parents bought it, or you all run drugs. You are a kid with too much cash and not enough willingness yo work for your car. All you had to do was look for 30min at the most by searching. If you didn't feel satisfied after that then fine make a thread about your car not working properly and your inability to fix it. But you have made more that ONE thread. I am sorry but I don't see the need for more than one. YOu can call me what you want but you aren't doing much other than waiting to hear from others where the mechanic is or who can help you. It isn't that hard to fix a car. RX-7's aren't make in mars. Buy a haynes manual look at the FSM's in www.iluvmyrx7.com or www.fc3s.org and you will learn a LOT. The FSM's are made to fix these cars I would say you can find 85-95% of the information you need just by taking time out of your BUSY schedule to read them a bit. Persons like Sonicrat and the others have already told you how you could seek out that vac leak and how to fix it. You really don't even have to search anymore. All you have to do is get under the hood of your car and get to work. When I got here I didn't know much and that wasn't to long ago. since then I have learned many thing and keep learning things every day sometimes every hour. But I don't post that many threads for one prob man. Anyways be glad you only have a vac leak, my first problem was busted oil lines. Chew on that for a while.

Amen Brother!

I wonder if we can get the search function to be the default screen for noob's. Even thought I have experience dating back to the RX2 water seal debacle, I still search out mods and ideas here first.

Point taken...

Problem is I'm not for sure that it is actually a Vac leak, it could be something else.

As for the TB Mod, I checked out http://www.rx7turbo.com/tbmod.htm and I doubt I could do that with my experience.

I'll find out if there is a vac leak tonight, I'm picking the car up at 8:30

If you can't do the TB Mod, there's no way you can fix a vac leak on your own.

I am not trying to be an ***, but listen to this.

You are a kid, who enjoyed watching the Fast and the furious or 2 fast 2 furious(whatever). You could not afford a 3rd gen rx-7 so you went with the 2nd gen. No problem..fine. Cheap, nice, and some what affordable.

However, you made a damn big mistake. You bought a car that is to much for you to handle. Too many kids are buying Rx-7's just to be cool and what I see are kids that doesn't appericate the rotary, you just appericate the attention. An Rx-7 is no Honda......its not simple and plug and play. You need to have a mechnical hands or at least the ability to read and understand.

I am an aircraft mech and to be an aircraft mech you need to know how to read.....read......read.....read.

Now go out to your car. Look at it. Tell your self are you willing to single out your girl friend, your family, and **** just to work on your 7. If not, get an account here ~~~~> www.ebay.com and sell it to some one who will take the time an effort to give life to that car.

Do the math

Car: 6,000
Dealership 2,500
Dealership Oh your 5th/6th ports are not working 2,500
=3rd gen

Btw: When my car starts to act up the rotary fairies do not pop up on my dash board and say:

"Orlando, your rear rotor apex seal just blew, your fucked!"

Trial and error buddy. Go through the systems that might likely fail....troubleshoot. Everyone on this forum does it.
