Ok so I have an 85 (yes I know first gen) its got a 13b in it, GSL-SE and I can not find a variable resistorfor it anywhere. I know you all have them in your cars that's why I'm posting here. I'm pretty sure mine is bad I tested it per fsm and I'm only getting a 1-2 ohms reading even if I try to adjust it. So where can I find one? Or do I really need it, is there a way to bypass it?

if you disconnect it then the car will default to the rich setting, ie no more resistor to pull down voltage to the ECU.

best bet for finding a replacement is in the 1st gen parts for sale section, i do not know if the FC VR will fit into a 1st gen so i am going to assume it has a different plug as most first gens had generic square/rectangular TYCO plugs.

my usb card reader is broken so i cant get you a picture of the FC variable resistor plug, maybe someone else can help. or hit up wreckers and you might get lucky

edit: looks the same as an FC variable resistor i have here. denso part looks to be 193600-0010 the 3 may be an 8 though, paint is a little rubbed off.

ok so if it's the same, will i have any luck on finding a new one or am I going to have to go with a used one? I'll start looking for one for a second gen insted of for the first gen. as most parts places are stupid when it comes to our cars. LOL
