May pick up a GXL, need help/advice.

Hey guys,

I am considering picking up an FC GXL. The car is a rolling chassis with no trany, and a decent rust on the body.

I can probably get it for somewhere between $200-$250 because if someone doesn't buy it it will be scrapped for a fee of $155. I am unsure of the exact year or the exact mileage.

Heres the info I need. I would be looking to make this into a turbo II rx7. I am somewhat familar with these cars, but not enough so to know how to go about this. I am mechanically inclined, and all the work would be done by myself and my crew.

Where do I get parts, what parts would I need?

How much would it cost to get the car up and running, turbo engine swap and what-not?

Are there any variables I am missing?

Is this something that is fesible to do, is the car priced properly?

Also, would it be better to just turbo the current engine? is that doable?

It will be easiest to just swap in a FULL TII drivetrain. engine, tranny, driveshaft, LSD...the whole thing. Then just pick yourself up a TII ECU, and wiring harness and you will be pretty much all set.

It is a lot more work to try and turbocharge a non turbo engine.

What kind of price am I looking at, and where would be a good place to go to to get that setup? Or is this something I should look for on ebay, as in a turbo II clip or something?

It's a lot of effort. Only grab it if you can't find a decent TII.

NA to TII conversion
All you need to know is in that link. You can get the parts you need in the parts for sale section on this forum.
