Maximum Tire Width on a '87 Base

What the hell is the cheapest '87 model anyways? Base? SE?

So, I searched, (a lot) and I believe I found the answer, but I want to verify, since I couldn't verify on the 4-lug for sure.

225 is the widest tire that will fit with stock +40MM offset without rubbing correct? I was looking at
225/45R17's and wanted to be sure it fit.
(225/40 is almost perfect, but no tires in this size)
If not, then I'll do 215/40 or 45
Thanks

Murdock

what size wheel???

The stock base wheel is a 5 1/2" wheel so that limits you to about a 205 series tire.

Again using the stock wheel there is no way a 225 would work, without damaging the sidewall and giving you very squrrily handling.

7" wheel width.

Sorry, I assumed it was clear I knew about the wheel specs. Thats why I offered up the 225/40R 17 as an example. Hard to find 5" wide 17's

All I wanna know is the maximum tire width on stock offset. I know all about mounting, the offset, proper wheel width, etc.

Thanks.
