Question Maximum HP of Stock Turbo?

Just curious how much HP you can push out of the stock turbo, and at what PSI, before you canna go no longer, and you have to upgrade the turbo? I've tried searching for it but nothing concrete came up.

WTF are you the guy that added me to MSN last night LOL?? I still have no idea who it is... same name.

anyways max maybe 300 at the flywheel at 15psi. but you need lots of other stuff to get there. bigger intercooler, more fuel, etc.

Most people say that the stock turbo is good to about 225rwhp or so at around 12psi. Any higher and the turbo starts to overwork itself, and it is just then pushing very hot air into the motor, increasing the possibility of detonation. I would only recommend 12psi with a good FMIC, and not above 10psi on the stock one. I am sure others have run more, but I wouldn't. A 60-1 HIFI hybrid on the stock hot side is a popular upgrade to yield 300rwhp with the correct mods.

I wouldnt want to run anymore than 12 psi on the stock turbo anyways. Like Dave said, you can run more boost but the turbo will be blowing some pretty hot air at that point.

Can you explain whats involved in doing the hybrid upgrade to a 60-1 HIFI? You are using the compressor side of the 60-1 so you take off your turbo and simply put the 60-1 on? Is this something thats extreamly difficult and should only be done by pros, or can the amateur mechanic get this done themselves? I assume your going to need a FMIC to use the larger 60-1 so I guess you'll have to get the piping and such for that too... anything else you can tell me about what would be involved would be great.

I think id rather have the plain 60-1 over the hifi, bigger inlet.

I just want to touch 12's, which ill probably do with the forementioned: Cold side upgrade, fmic, fuel, and haltech. Im sure theres other little things.

dump some ice on the intercooler and let it melt a little, and if you want put a little rock salt, good for a couple runs down the track.

Stock turbo, 15psi max, 250bhp at the flywheel - I put this 15psi max due to the delicate nature of the turbos seals which puke anything higher.&nbsp Other will argue you can go higher.

Compressor upgrades -> http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/MODS/TURBO/compup.htm

Full turbo upgrades - the sky is the limit.
