max wheel size ?

Hello everyone, just new the club. I have a quick question pertaining to my 87 gxl. Just wondering what is the biggest set of wheels I can fit on my car ? Reason being is that I have a set of (4) lexus rx330 whells sitting in my garage. I test fitted them and they fit perfectly. They are 18x9's , So if I go with a low profile tire setup, you think I will have enough clearance for turning without rubbing the inner wheel well? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

thanks for the advice. But what do you guys think is a better setup for it. 17's with 205 50 r17's be a better setup? Say, is300 wheels are that size.

It would look pretty gay, but the wheels i had on my car before i got my FD rims were 18x9's with 235/40/18 fronts and 245/35/18 rears. No clearance issues. Glad i got rid of them though, the heavy rotational mass they added was very noticable and the wheels were just plain ugly.

that would be a more reasonable size, 205/50/17 will be taller than stock however, a 205/45/17 ,or a 225/40/17 would probably be closer to stock height. will throw off your speedo a tad!

Thanks for the tips. Sounds to me like I'm gonna have to look for a set of decent looking after market wheels. Most likely 17's tho. Cause I just ordered some Tein springs. One inch drop on front and back. They should ride nice too, read some good stuff about them.

As far as size/flushness goes...

I run a 17x8 +25 wheel up front with a 225/45/17 series tire and I have no problems running and it's flush with the fender. The rear has a 17x9 +35 255/45/17 and also works great.

They're flush, they don't rub, they look great.
