Max tire width on a stock tii rim

Sorry fellas i searched and couldnt find crap. I am in need of tires and want to put 225 50 16 all the way around my 90 GXL (has s5 tii/GTUs rims though). I have no suspension mods so it is sitting in stock heigth. Can i run the 225 without rubbing or rolling my fenders under? Let me know

i have 225/45/16 on my T2. they fit fine. 225s are no problem for a 7" wide wheel. i believe that a 245 is prolly the largest youll fit on a stock T2 wheel.

On some 225/50's the sidewall may touch the front spring seat. It's easy to grind 1/8" off the seat lip if you need to.

I run 225/50/16's up front and 245/45/16's out back on '89 BBS mesh style T2 factory rims (16x7). I would just stick with 225/16's all the way around as the rear sidewalls bulge over the rims.... but it does add more meat/traction if you need it.

FYI- Tirerack.com has Yokohama AVS I's in the size you are looking for @ $57-60 per tire! A smoking deal. If you can afford more then get Bridgestone S-03's.... as they are the **** but triple the price.

stock tire size was 205/55/16

if you run a 50 sidewall on a 16" wheel the speedo WILL be off.

That's correct. 205/55 original, 225/50 approximate same OD. I'm running 215/55 & 245/50 Nitto-same OD

about 17 lbs, best reference I've seen so far. I have one loose in my garage, I'll weigh it.
