is there any way to put a bigger mass air flow sensor so the turbo can spool quicker?

not really, at least not an easy one. some have tried different ways but dont think they have been successful
you can ditch it if you go stand alone

would the TID mod help here ??

Of course an aftermarket turbo or supercharger would help with spooling.

A bigger, less restrictive TID allows more airflow and cuts turbo lag. Just watch for overboosting.

can you use the mass air meter from 89-91s N/As on 87-88 TIIs? just wondering if it would work I got an extra laying around

S4 and S5 AFM's are not interchangable, neither are NA and Turbo AFM's.
