Manufacturing a "Quiet" 3insingle exit exhaust

im on a quest to come up with a custom exhaust that will be super quiet, quieter than even stock systems.

now, with that said, i know its going to be difficult since im looking for a hi flow 3in turbo back... i already have a custom 3inch one that consists of a 3in Racing Beat Down pipe, to a hiflow cat(which will either be swapped for a new one or just throw out period) to a no name N1 style muffler(rice). Now, i do want to include a presilencer that Racing beat has a universal 3in version, that i will be purchasing soon. RB also offers a universal 3" muffler as well that i may be purchasing...however i have grown to love the dumpy style mufflers and would love to have one.... i dont know if these turn down muffler provide the stealth that im looking for...i was also thinking of buying both RB products and adding a dump tip to the muffler but i cant even find a muffler with one!

any ideas guys?

A stock exhaust is super quiet if it wasn't for the fan you can't tell the car is running!

+1 the stock exhaust was really quiet

for a +2, its tough to beat the full RB revII system, but i have done a few cars where we used the rev II downpipe and presilencer, but then ran a 3" single with your choice of rear muffler. the presilencer works well and basically the rear muffler becomes the tone control.

we did one with a borla that sounded great, and an HKS carbon TI, that looked cool, but its a little bassy for my taste.

lol i figured id get the stock exhaust runaround... id love to keep it stock but unfortunately i think it will cause flow issues with the 750/1000cc injector set up....but i will definatly look into the hushpower exhaust, those are manufactured for diesel engines tho.... i think the racing beat will suffice....any other components or any luck with other mufflers?

I have a dual muffler setup on my single exit 3" and it's fantastic. Short inline 3" muffler then to the 3 in 4 out rear exit muffler. With stock cat, sounds super quiet!

should have asked me.

i have run my stock Turbo II series 5 catback versus the 3" single i have on my car currently and the power difference was almost unnoticable at ~350 whp. with a borla XR1 in place of the main cat it would be as quiet if not quieter than stock and still be free flowing.

i switch them out when i get bored of the droning sound from the single. my single SSautochrome catback has an XR1 placed between the pre-silencer and the muffler which is why it sounds reasonable. that gets omitted when i put the stock catback on and it's still quieter than the single.

downpipe to midpipe to cherrybomb to borla muffler on the driverside. that was my setup. enough flow to overboost and quiet as stock.

I would look into building a capped helmholtz camber. Look on camaro site or G8 site. The "SOLO" exhaust is basically a helmholtz type setup.

Our main problem is drone at highway speeds (if you ask me). Design the proper length chamber and it will cancel that frequency.

I made one for the wife's g8 and it worked, just haven't gotten around to making one for the 7

Classifieds section or new from Mazdatrix (make sure you're sitting down before looking at prices).

I thought Mazdatrix had them, but I just looked and they are gone. They only carry the cats.

Here is that hushpower pro series on a 13B by itself, im sure with a presilencer it will tone down alot.

another note, external wastegate, and may have a presilencer already... lol

I would love to put back a stock exhaust as mega power is not my goal. But everyone has certainly thrown them out by now... or wouldn't bother to ship if they had it. Oh well, going to throw together a "new" exhaust soon enough.
