makin 90 GXL 10sec car
Can nebody help me i need the cheapest ways to make my 90 GXL a 10 sec car but im broke hehe just if u could throw som ideas out there an maybe som links to good websites all the help will be greatly appreciated, thanks
First you have to watch both of the fast & furious movies a bunch more times. This takes dedication, the useful information that these movies give us should be treated as gospel. Then get a cosmo 3 rotor, they can hold mad, crazy boost. So you gotta get a phat turbo to boost that thing & put on a body kit that shows off your big *** FMIC. Then go to the track and run 10's all day long.
Sorry, i was in a bad mood. Please search. If you really want a 10 second car, first build it into a 13 second car. That should cost between 3 and 5 g's. You will learn enough doing that to realize what you need to build a 10 second car.

Couple options.
One. Drop a gigantic built V8 in it with a four speed auto tranny and swap the rear-end out for something stronger. I don't know if a TII differential will handle that much power, but you'll need a custom driveshaft anyway.
Two. Rebuilt 13BT. Bigass streetport or half-bridge or bridgeport. A large enough turbo for 450rwhp. All the associated fuel, exhaust, engine management modifications.
Three. 20B swap with stock twins, which should, when all is said and done, net you ~500rwhp. Of course it's still ~$10K if you do it all yourself.
Either way I think you're looking at almost $15,000US, with the possibility for much more expense.

well i understand that when people first get into rx7's they think they are very easy to upgrade...this is true with turbos and cars that came from the factory with turbos. but a 10 second car is not going to be something you could drive every day and expect it to be reliable and 'safe'. the best bet if your serious is either get a TII, an FD, or put a ls1 or ls6 into the gxl. a v8 would be the best way to go cost wise but other than that your kinda stuck with a n/a 13b, i kinda had the same attitude back in 1999 that i could make my n/a pretty damn fast, but it will never happen without alot of money to buy a whole turbo car and fix it up or swaping in a turbo driveline, engine, etc, or a v8. so when i finally grew up...sorta i found that cars that fast (10 sec)are silly to have if you need to get anywhere without the chance of problems so im sticking to a n/a and im going to see what i can do with it, i know it wont be fast but im ok with that, its still just as fun...sorry for the rant ive been mean to alot of people who ask stuff like this so i wanted to be helpful. btw the fast and furious stuff still cracks me up everytime i see it...the legacy of that movie will never die.
No, it's a perfectly valid question. What cracks people up is the following "but im broke."
It's possible to make a 10 second car. It's not possible to do this with no money (or little money).

ok. im guessing jk88 is some pretty young kid. im guessing around 16 years old since he has an 88 in his name, but that could be the year of his car.. who knows! First, before you even dream of a 10second car, you should first see a 10sec car. 600hp Lamborghinis, vipers and everything else arnt even 10second cars. 10 sec cars have rollcages, wrinkel wall tires, built drivelines, drag suspensions and so on. They are pretty hard to drive on the street, taking simple turns becomes a question of faith. I got a friend right now building a mach1 mustang with about 500hp that probably wont run 10's, the car has fiberglass body parts, and is totaly set up as a drag car.
I can tell you right now, unless your religion is drag racing and you have some stupid rich parents, your not going to have a 10sec car anytime soon. There is no such thing as a cheap 10sec car, and the cheap things that are 10sec in the 1/4 mile arnt cars at all.

Buy a Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, that'll run 9's. On a more serious note. I suggest you read the FAQ, and then check out this page: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/COSMO/20b.html
I wish i was a mod. I would have said "you cant make a 10 second car if you are broke" then i would have locked the thread.
Aside that..
If you dont know whats involved in owning/building a car that fast, you dont need to have one. why the hell do you need that much power?

Have you ever ridden in a 10 second car? Or even anything close? It takes your breath away.. literally. If you have, sorry to sound like Im looking down on you, but its not something for the faint of heart, especially street driven. A 13 second car can be a handfull on the streets at times.. If you want something fast, and are willing to do your own work, here is my advise. Buy a stock Turbo2. They are high 14 second cars stock. Learn how to control and drive that for a while. Then do some minor intake and exhaust modifications, and with some supporting fuel mods, youll be running 13s and think its the fastest car in the world. From there you can learn more, and upgrade the turbo, etc.. and the sky is the limit (or should I say your checkbook..)

Bro you need to seach before askign stuff like this. There is an entire section on this site dedicated to the 20B. If you have to ask how much, you can't afford a 20B.
Really, a *properly* done 20B is going to run $10k, or at least that's the general consensus. A bare bones motor is $2000-$4000 and then you'll want to rebuild it, add a bigger turbo, manifold, WG, stand alone EMS, fuel injectors/pump/fpr etc. Then you you'll need traction wheels, tires, etc. Safetly equipment so you don't kill yourself.
Your right, people do have dreams and those are nice but you have to do your homework before askign a question like that. I've been into cars since I was very young and at 26 I am *just now* getting what I really want.
There is a saying that you should remember.
Cheap
Realiable
Fast
Pick any two cause you can't get all three.
