Major Turbo LAG!

Turbo lag! I never had this problem b4 until these following days.

The past few days it has been boosting @ weird rpm range or just dont boost at all.
Normally it kicks in around 2.7k rpm, and today it lag till like 4k rpm and made my car jumped. note this is on third and on to forth
Also If it was boosting it takes a long time for the turbo boost to kick in and etc.

Also i check my boost gauge and it shows that it dont show signs of boosting and i dont hear the turbine spooling up anymore or hear the BOV.

A. Not enough air into the intake to the turbo
B. Leak in the manifold
C. Turbo not working
D. Leak in BOV.

Does it get really LOUD when it boosts?
Sounds like you got a loose clamp or hose.

Its an S4, so it may also be a problem with the twin scroll. If you look in the FSM, there is an operational check for it.

Make sure the WG arm is attatched, I had the lil C-clip fall off once and eventually the arm wiggled itself loose. Obvious fix, but it did give similar symptoms.

Check the w/g actuator and rod, check the twin scroll actuator and rod, check all the hoses and clamps to see if any have blown off. If you dont see anything wrong externaly then its up to you to find it. take the turbo off and check it to see if it has alot of play in the shaft. Just check the turbo mechanics and you should find something. Im betting its a boost leak though. My IC hose from the turbo to the IC blew off a few months ago when I was on the interstate. It would drive ok if I stayed out of boost, but as soon as I got over about 30% throttle it would buck really hard and sputter

Thanx for your replies
I fixed it!!!!!

The AFM was stuck open because of a piece of ducktape that was sucked in...

I had stupidly ducktaped the lip of the HKS air intake in order to increase the size of it and make it fit better to the samco silicone tube. Luckily this stupid ghetto mod didnt harm my turbo...
