maintaining new exhausts

Getting my new exhaust and pipe tommorow, whats the best way to keep them from rusting while I'm not in it?

is it stainless steel ? if it isnt than rust is preaty much unavoidable .. unledd u insist on painting it .. but thats just a waste of paint and time

ah.. alright thanks, its a stock Mazda OEM exhaust so I don't think it is stainless steel.
