Question Magnetic wiper motor?

I was using a drop light in my car today when I noticed that my wiper motor is magnetic. I was holding the light and got near the motor and it stuck to it. Not a stong pull but you can tell its magitised. My wiper motor dosent work I dont even have a fuse in for it. If I put a fuse in it will run for like 10sec then blow the fuse. Im guessing its because of a short but whould this have anything to do with my wiper motor being magnetic? Is a magnietic wiper motor normal?

Welcome to basic electricity 101- electro-magnetism is the driving force behind almost all motors, generators, some synchros, alternators...

Therefore, you need magnets...

The magnets revolving past a coiled wire produces an alternating electric current in the wire (more specifically coils of wire), and depending on application can be converted to a direct current through the use of diodes (our alternators), or the wiring or inputs can be reversed to produce things like your wiper motor, which is nothing more than a generator that's wired to perform as a motor...

Class dismissed

Oh, BTW, change your motor, it's shorted...

My rear wiper cept blowing fuses. I put a multimeter on the leads and they were both hot. They stayed hot even with the switch off. Mazdamark.com wiper switch rebuild fixed the problem.

To test it unplug the motor and check for voltage on the supply plug using a multimeter. I would test all switch positions. Wiper switch failure is common.

[QUOTE=Oh, BTW, change your motor, it's shorted...[/QUOTE]

Usually when it takes a while for the fuse to blow, it's not a direct short, but something in the circuit that is drawing more power than the wiring was designed to handle. Like a motor on its way out...Hint, hint...
