anyone ever use this in place of a cat to help lower the sound. Would something like this work when used with a muffler.

I am wondering what they would actually be like as mufflers. How long they would last, so on.

probably not long like the rest of the magnaflow line. Dont get me wrong they are great mufflerys but not on hot rotorys. I know people that use the magnaflow mufflers on the end of the car that work great for years and have not had a problem but if i put this where the cat used to be it might be to hot

If you want to supress exhaust noise, get a muffler that has a straight-through perforated tube that runs diagonal through the muffler body.

Offset inlet/outlet is a clue.
Borla and Walker Dynomax both make mufflers like this.

That "cherry bomb" does little to muffle the exhaust noise.

I had 2 of them on my mustang as mufflers. I dunno if they would handle the heat of the rotary or not but It would be very loud. They are straight through. Has a nice sound on a v8 but I dunno about a rotary engine.

well the reason im thinking about doing this is i want something that flows better then a cat but still muffles the sound a little. This will be used with a muffler.

I actually thought about using a mangapack as a muffler on my gxl, but went against it in the end. From what I understand it would definitely be very loud, but Magnaflow claims they work just fine as mufflers
