even stainless mesh will come apart if it is located too close to the engine and especially if your timing is retarded.

I was about to but some Magna flow for my presilencer, but Im glad I didnt because the RB silencer sounds very nice.

I got a true dual setup with RB road race headers and presilencer going to a pair of Dynomax SS welded Mufflers.

It sound freaking nice when you step on it. Low grumble at idle and the sweetness of the Rotary at high rpm.

1-2-3 gear to 6k rpm

3rd gear pull to 7k rpm

i dont have my timing retarded, is at factory spec and the muffler is at the end of the downpipe. i dont know, i always heard good things about magnaflow mufflers all the time in the forum and im very disapointment about it because it wasnt a cheap muffler.

I have a magnaflow race oval as a mid muffler and it did wonders in changing the tone
of my duel apex n1s...

used for 6 months never had a issue

I will be using 2
one oval and one round stainless steel race mufflers
with my new setup...

the mid muffler should be where the CAT was or a bit back then that

yeah they arent cheep and they do well if you put them further on down the line. you dont see mustang or camaro guys using them right after the headers.

id goahead and get the RB pipe, it was made to go there and sould last alot longer than that magna can.

have fun!

If it's got fiberglass packing it's mosty likely not going to last.
When I was younger and just getting into RX7's I had a 1985 GSL that I took to the shop and got straight piped.
It was way to damn loud. So I went backa week later and had a 48" glasspack installed as the midpipe to help queit it down.
Well after a day of driving, it was toast. It kept getting louder and louder all day and by the evening it sounded like it did without the glasspack. I cut it off, then cut it open, it was friend.
To many people don't seem to realize how hot and how abusive the pulsations of rotary exhaust are. The exhaust gases are still expanding from combustion as they enter the exhaust system. Piston engines don't do that.
For the past 8 years now, the only presilencer I dare use is the Racing beat. It's only about $90 for the universal one that needs to get welded on.
Part number 16435 or you can use 16434
Good luck

I didn't read the sentence where you sated you already had an RB pre. That's the best way to go.

IIRC magnaflow have a lifetime warrenty on there mufflers/resonators.Maybe you could get a replacement, and hopefully they'll make it a painless process?

What model is it? I ran a 3.5" straight through 'race' resonator on my 2 rotor in the midpipe right behind a cat aka heat amplifier. I used it for over a year and didn't have a problem with it. If anything I think it got a little quieter over time (or my hearing got worse).
