See the testing procedure for the airflow meter in the factory service manual.

Get the factory service manual here and, as Evil says, check the AFM according to the manual.

Pull the elect plug off the MAF and see if you have spark or not. Should.

The MAF is not used for fuel during starting the engine.

Lack of spark and no fuel pump action can be caused by the ENGINE fuse being bad.

Fuel pump DOES NOT run just by putting the key to ON. Remember that and take it into consideration.

The FSM check out of the AFM should be done but will not determine if the internals of the afm are in rig or not. No way that test does that.

The only way a AFM can cause no spark is for the wire that carrys the REF VOLTAGE to it is being grounded out. That brown/white wire should read appox 4.5 to 5vdc with the plug on the afm. If it does, then the afm is not your problem at all.

What if your car does have spark and fuel, BUT runs very very poorly. But not throwing a code.

I am interested in what the afm broken, symptoms.
