Made it into the 14s last night! (N/A FC)

Well guys, first the bad news. I put some 11s tempature plugs in the trailing, 10s in the leading. Then, backed the timing off around 6 degrees. Ran super unleaded in the car, all to help reduce the chance of detination while on the bottle. (nitrous Oxide) Track conditions are good. Lots of VHT, 84f out, track tempature 133f. Litte warmer than I like...but hey I have no control over the weather. First run I go out and all I get is a whole lot of detination. I'm like what the heck is going on? I recheck to see if my fuel/nitrous jets are correct. They bolth look good, so I add about 12% to my s-afc settings. Go back out....nothing but detination again. Keep in mind, I'm only running a 50shot too. I did'nt want to blow up the engine, so I figured that I'd better call it good for the nitrous for the night. Whent back to the pits put the 9 tempature range spark plugs back in it (I run em in L and T), readjusted my timing, leaned the s-afc out again and pulled down some healthy numbers.

My fast mph time for the night.

60' 2.403
330' 6.704
1/8 10.042
mph 73.97
1000 12.849
1/4 15.165
mph 97.92

This was a freak run. Most of my runs where in 94-96mph range.

This is my fastes run of the night.

60' 2.256 <- My best 60ft of the night
330' 6.326
1/8 9.635
mph 74.29
1000 12.451
1/4 14.810
mph 93.36

4 times I ran at 15.0xx. So many times!! BTW the 14.8 run had the lowest mph that I actually ran all day. Wich realy suprised me. But I could care less, I was just so happy to have ran a 14 on true street tires, and no crazy weight reduction. Infact, there is no weight reduction done to the car at all. I was bummed out about the nitrous not working. I'm wondering if the fuel pump did'nt break or something. But I'm pretty shure I'll be getting rid of the nitrous sytem realy soon. I can't take these kind of chances on my daily driver, when I'm so close to getting my single turbo setup for my FD.

My fastes time last year was a 15.1@95mph, so I knocked off a couple tenths, wich I'm shure had everything to do with my 60ft times.

Don't break the daily driver! So was it hard to get traction? 98mph trap speed is like 13 second ET range with slicks if I recall correctly.

Have you used the spray before with no problems or was this the first time you tried to use it?
Nice number by the way, looks like you had fun.

Actually, the track was pretty nice. Lots of VHT, and a solid foundation of rubber. I'm glad that I was able to crack the 14s, as this was the last time for the 2nd gen at the track. I'm going to be selling the exaust, s-afc, lightweight flywheel, HI-6, and the nitrous system here pretty soon. I'm going to be putting it back to stock, and just driving it. CJ

I had used it the night before but just in short test sessions to see if everything was working properly. All seemed good. Before that was probably atleast 2 months ago, and it was working pefectly back then. CJ

My old car ran a 14.6 all motor..hhmm.... work on that launch brother, and get some more mods. AgentD ran a 14.1 N/A as well. Either way, all in all a good job that you are improving, keep it up!

You know, I was thinking that same thing. I give you augusta blowemup crew boys a pretty hard time, but you all have been in the 14s for a year or 2 now. Even if it is with 2-4 different motors

You guys have to understand, this is my heavy s5 car. With me in it, I would'nt doubt if the car weighted in at 2950-3000lbs. I mean, it still has working ac/ps, all the carpet/sound deading material etc. I even had the jack and spare tire in there. This was accomplished with 205/60/15s! I mean shure If it was cooler out, I gutted the car, and ran some slicks, and had no concern for the longevity of the transmition and rearend, I could have ran pretty close to a 14.0.

Dlteezan, yeap that was me. We try to tip nicely. And the fact that you had a FC helped too. You need to come to a RPNW meeting sometime too.

Yeah luis, I'm completely happy with the motor. It makes good clean power all the way up to the rev-limiter. Never smokes, starts up effortlessly hot or cold. And not to mention, makes a bunch of nice power for the port size. Later, CJ

Yo,

CJ, congrats!!

Man, that was a huge trap speed at 97mph on that one run...

PM on the S-AFC, I might want a piece of that.

Thanks!

Your MPH went down cuz you 60ft improved. You jumped off the line instead of spinning. My guess is that you changed your launch style a touch. Remember, every .1 you take off your 60ft can mean a MUCH faster ET but in most cases a slower trap. Keep working on those launches, try to get around a 2.0 and you'll be quite happy with your time slip.
