LSD questions

Hey all, can yall tell me the difference between the 86-88 lsd's and the 89- lsd's. What's different? What's interchangable? Whats needed to swap? I have an '86 n/a car with an open differential. Looking for a swap on a budget. Any info will be much appreciated.

s4 (86-88) are clutch type lsd. S5 (89-91) are viscous type lsd.
Clutch type is better compared to the viscous. since you have a 86 n/a, you can either get a S4 GXL diff and swap it right in, since i bolts up.
You can get a S4 TII diff, but it will require you to get a TII driveshaft, TII diff, TII axel stubs, TII halfshafts, and if you have a 4lug hub, you will need to get a 5lug hub
