LSD burnt out? or slightly?

Hey guys, I have a TII, and there seem to be a lot of things saying my LSD is okay, and a few that say it is busted. Now doing the standard put-the-rear-up-and-spin-the-tire-check, both wheels spin in the same direction. And yesterday, stupidly, I was backing up my driveway onto my ramps, and because of the angle, I burned a bit of rubber on the ramps wondering why my car was making that sound (I thought I was slipping the clutch more). There was rubber all the way up BOTH ramps.

But, my bud said, when I did a peel out, only one tire moved. Also, around a couple corners, in 2nd gear nailing it, I heard my inside tire sqealing. Every so often, when I take off, my RPMs fly up, and I know only one is spinning. So is it half cooked? Or what?

Thanks!

Funny my non-lsd acts in the exact opposite ways. With the car jacked up spinning one wheel spins the other the opposite way.....normal for non-lsd of course. However, when I do a burnout they BOTH spin, for the full length of the burnout.

Yeah, but what kind of tires do you have? I have some 90 dollar 225/50 Yokahamas, my bud paid a little less for some Kumhos and he said mine are a lot grippier.

a clutch type and fluid type LSD works on the idea that because one wheel lost traction, both rear wheels should spin an equal amount.

But if it completely locked up, going around corners in a high traction situation would be very difficult. There has to be some give.

I would be more concerned that if going around a corner that you didn't move; than if the inside tire was squeeling... it should to some degree if the LSD locked up, because the outside tire is spinning at a different radius and speed than the inside tire.

Other things that can affect a LSD operation: bushings worn, shocks worn, springs worn, LSD worn...Funny all things that can affect traction...

7 Dreams... Sounds like your diff is on its way out...
Mine did the same thing, after I blew it (Diff locked up and snapped the rear output shaft on the gear box)

When I dropped the diff out and pulled it apart I found out sum low life tight **** had put a single spinner instead of a LSD center.

But its LSD now and works sweet..!!!

This is what a good LSD should let you do for many years to come......
