in the mornings when i start my car my voltometer will say 12 right when you start the car but if you tap the gas to 3k it'll jump to right above 14..whats the deal?

 

the higher the RPM, the more efficient the alternator becomes. After starting, the alternator does double duty by re-charging the battery. If it struggles to keep up with 12v all time, you could be looking at a weak alternator.

 

more rpm = more voltage.

 

At idle the alt should be putting out at least 13.6 volts with the lights on. If it does not, it is getting old and needs replacement

 

its only about a 2 month old FD alternator

 

You may need to check connections make sure they are tight and super clean.

You may need to add more grounds.

you should have 3 grounds.

 

3? i was going to try and rewire the charging circuit when i got the car back from the paint shop
