Low power below 4000 RPM, running rich (we think)

Recently I replaced fuel lines and generally cleaned up injectors (new seals and air-bleeds, etc) and replaced vacuum lines (very brittle). New sparkplugs, new ignition wires. Car starts, but has low power at low RPMs -- can't even get up our driveway with a little hill from a stop. Above 4000 RPM, ride smooths out. Seems to be running rich, because exhaust pipes heat up hotter than usual. Idle is around 1200 RPM and a bit rough. Once we start it up, it needs a tap on the gas to keep going and then it's OK.

I saw another thread with similar issues reported, and the suggestion that it's the AFM.

Ideas on what to check? It's an all stock turbo '87.

it feels like i fix one thing and something else goes wrong what the heck. could it be the afm? iv bin thinking about it and it seems like the afm could control the amount of fuel being delivered at any point in time. could it be the injectors, i gust tock them out and cleaned them by using a dc 3v current to open them up and run carb cleaner through them and then i let them sit in carb cleaner for a wyle. the connectors for the injectors are kind of broken but the still hold tight. OR could it be the grounds at the ecu or some other place I'm stumped you guys. it runs rough and kind of like sputters and hesitates until the secondaries kick in then it's like I'm in a drag racer(lots of power after 4000 rpm). i love this car but it really pisses me off when it doesn't work right and i cant figure it out.

sounds like you need a TPS adjustment after all the new parts you installed, hot exhaust would be more of a LEAN condition than a rich one. but yeah, the 1200 rpm idle sounds like a out of spec TPS, if you have the FSM on adobe acrobat it explains how to test it and get it back into spec

thanks man i need to find that Manual but i cant find it. I'm going to look on the FAQ for it. dose anybody have any info or suggestions on how I'm going to get the car to give me power throw the hole bandwidth of acceleration? i still cant figure this out and need some help. if ANYBODY needs for me to find anything in the car, look at anything, test anything ....ext to help them help me i would be more then happy to do it.

its crazy cause if I'm driving and i am below 4000rpm and i FLOOR IT it doesnt do anything it may (depending on how much it wants to irritate me) decelerate and go slower. Or it will gust boost and slowly accelerate and sputter till it hits 4grand. and i DONT think it is running lean cause
it smells like rich mixture when i get out of the car.
I'm going to set the tps as soon as i can the car is going to be siting for a wyle until i can figure out what the matter is with it.
