low OP and hella rough idle....

I'm conserned about my '89 GTU. I got up this morning turned my car on to warm it up...everything was fine....i come back like 7-8 minutes later, give it some gas so i can go...then my car starts shaking pretty hard (it warmed up fine), hard enough that its very tough to make things out in the rearview mirrors.....then i notice that my oil pressure is a little below 30 (it was a little below 60 yesterday)( i have full clean oil). I though the problem might go away after i got the car up to normal operating temperature.....but of course that wasn't the case. once i get the rpm's past 2000 the OP starts to rise, it only gets to about 40-43, and if i let off the gas it sinks right back down to like 25-30...does anyone know what could possibly be wrong??? does it sound like an expensive venture, or just an oil pump/filter or something??? thanks....

Uh that seem close enough to normal PSI for me. The shaking might also be engine mounts or any of the other mounts or something not being ballanced right like the drive shaft. Usually it takes 30 min. for my oil pressure to be above 60 at 2500rpms+ Idle PSI should be ~30psi

My oil pressure stays right about 25-30 at idle.. it goes to about 60 under a load above 3K rpm... Just revving it in neutral it might hit fifty when its cold.

Warm Oil is less viscous, and thus will have less pressure....

The shaking, on the other hand... if it only does it at idle and runs smooth at higher RPMs..... try looking for a vaccume leak first. check your plugs too before you go on an Oil Problem Hunt since you seem to have decent pressure

Sounds more like a stuck throttle plate or a vaccume leak to me.

Probably a busted oil cooler line if you are spewing oil.
