Low fuel warning light didn't come on!
Stupid thing. Normally a light comes on when you're down to about 2 gallons, but this time it didn't come on, and I ran my tank down to nothing! Luckily this was on route 1 in NJ, so it was a short walk to a gas station to pick up a can.
The car runs like **** until the primaries re-prime, and then when you get above 3000rpm (stay the hell off the boost!) it runs like **** until the secondaries prime.
Once everything is re-primed, it runs like garbage and all rich in closed loop mode until the ECU figures out that it doesn't need to blast the injectors wide open anymore.

you need a new fuel pressure sending unit that is hooked up to your tank. I've heard that you can resoilder the ponts instead of buying a new unit. they are around $80.00 from MAZDA. VERY VERY typical for them not to work. I have never had a 7 that the gas light worked.

haha yup there is a low gas light, it's in the idiot cluster. Just turn your ignition to "on" and don't start it, and you can see the idiot lights in all their glory.
The low fuel light is activated by its own sensor? I figured it was tied to the fuel gauge somehow, which works fine
BTW For reference I managed to put 17.75 gallons into the tank! (1 gal in a can, then 16.75 after driving to the station)
