Low Compression: No blown apex seals, but no idle
My 87 Turbo II has 155,000 miles on the original engine, and has been running very well until I removed my vaccuum rack and solenoids. I got the car all back together using new silicone vaccuum lines and new fuel line, and fixed what I thought to be every vaccuum leak. The car seemed to be running quite well so I took it for a drive and floored it in second gear. Afterwards, when I pulled up to the stop light, the car didn't seem to want to idle. I limped it home, where it is now. Just today I did a compression test with a good healthy battery on a warmed up motor and yielded 74 psi on the rear rotor and 80 psi on the front rotor. I know these numbers are so low that the motor could basically blow any second, but the test was even on all faces and pretty close between rotors, so I assume it should still run. My question is will a motor with consistent but very low compression experience problems like I am seeing? Should it still be able to drive until an apex seal goes, or are my seals overall too worn for it to be able to run properly?
Thanks in advance.
