low compression mystery

So the mechanic told me there was low compression on one rotor face on the rear rotor. Now im wondering if i should have believed him. I bought the car for 500 from a shop and thats what the mechanic told me. I was wondering how a rotoray motor would have low compression on just one face. Well i have ripped the motor apart anyway and the apex seals are all there non are broken, the housing have seen better days but i dont think there totally shot, there are some groves but not terrible. Also if it were the housings wouldnt that cause bad compression through all rotors. I remeber the mechanic telling me that he read the tester by holding the relief valve, i think i read something saying that is not totally correct. And being that most mechanics are familiar with rotors i dont think he knew about the proper compression test. Now that the motor is apart i was cleaning up the engine bay, as i was taking out the coils i noticed that on one of the coils the wire connecting the top spark plug to the coil wasnt connected. It appeared as if it were connected but the connection to the coil was totally in the boot not touching the actual coil. The inside on the other coil wire looked gold and the inside of this coil looked kinda black like there had been no spark running through it. Im not sure how the spark system works but would this cause lose of power i konw theres 2 plugs but not sure on how they fire. If someone could please explain how the spark works on a rotary that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot guys. any help would be great im trying to get pictures of the housing right now.

Well it could have had poor compression on one rotor...

Even though all the apex seals were present it doesn't mean that they were all sealing correctly, a corner seal may have been the problem - or even a side seal.

May I ask why you took the entire motor apart on this "mechanic's" opinion about the motor's compression?

Did you try to get it running before you decided to take the entire thing apart?
........................

As far as the spark plug wires go, on may have been getting poor contact or not entirely plugged in and has now got a little corrosion on it causing the blackness.

The two plugs (trailing = top, Leading = Bottom) fire sequentially just to promotre a more even burn of the fuel air mixture.....
