Low charge occasionally....need dual pulley?
Hey guys I am having some problems with my charging system and need some advice. First off, when I get in the car and it is a cold engine it runs fine and idles right on 750 no problems. It is after I drive it for a bit and then shut her down......come back and drive her while the engine is still warm is when I have a problem. I don't hold charge above 12.5 volts on my stock guage and she idles around 500 rpm trying to shut off on me.
My mods are in my signature and I only have ONE belt on my pulley for just the alternator...what do u guys think may be the culprit? Should I get a dual alt belt pulley to fix the problem? I don't know if the belt is slipping...I don't hear any screeching belt at all so I don't think that is the problem.
If I were to run the car till she is running temperature and then shut the car off real quick and then immediately turn her back on then she is just fine. It is when I let her sit for a period of 10-60 minutes is when I get in and have problems. Is there some sort of relay or capacitor or something that is getting overheated? I have a fiero fan wired directly to the battery and to a manual switch in the cockpit.... could it be sucking juice from somewhere it is not supposed to? Or overheating some other component under the hood? I just can't figure it out.

PS- When I start her up cold and run her 30 miles to work in the morning she sits at 14.5 volts no problem so the alternator is good. I ran the battery dead twice because I forgot to turn my efan off but I jumped her and everything has been good...could I have messed something up when I jumped her?
It is almost as if something gets heat soaked when I turn her off after a drive and just doesn't perform well when I start her back up.
Thanks in advance guys!

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
sounds more like the alt is failing
the extra load caused by the electric fan will cause the stock sized alt to fail early, as well as the fan should be wired correctly so that it is only on when the engine temp is high enough and the car is not above 45 mph.
