Question low battery voltage.

i have a 86 n/a and i recently put in a optima red top in it. over the last weekend my car died and i tested the battery and it had a bad cell so i replaced it. then found out my alternator went bad too so i replaced it also. now my car runs but my battery registers 11.5 volts when the car is of and about 12 when it is on. when i rev the engine there is no change in volts or amps that are coming out of the alternator. anyone have any idea's or had a simalar problem?

Are you reading that off the stock dash gauge or are you using a DMM on the battery. If you're doing the former, do the latter instead.

If your readings are right, your alternator is most likely dead.

Are all the Idiot lights all on While the car is running? If they are it's 99% your alternator is dead.

put this to a volt meter and make sure the alternator they gave you isn't defective... it happens. that or make sure you put back everything, i know that sounds stupid but it happens. check all connections

Get a multimeter and measure your actual battery voltage. If you measure the same thing then your alternator is bad. It is not uncommon to buy a bad alternator.
