Lounge rat sayig hi to you guys, and i come with noob questions about Tii's.

Whats up guys? im sure if you spend time in the lounge you know who i am.

Next month i am looking into buying a car for 5-6k, i was looking at FD's(obviously not for 5-6k) but insurence would kill me, and im not sure i want a loan to pay every month, and i want something a little more reliable.

So, im wondering what kind of TII could 5-6k score me?, it doesnt matter, s4 or s5, s5 preferabley.

I'd like it with a newer motor (30k or around there would be nice) with basic mods, intake, exhaust, upgraded fuel system would be nice so i could tinker with the boost, and whatever else as long as it was done properly and not abused.

So would this be feasable to obtain with 5-6k for one that wasnt abused?(i'd probably buy off this forum).

I know this is a noob question, i would search but i dont think i could find anything tailor fitted to what i just asked, but if so, flame away, because i do my fair share of flaming and can take it.

I was looking in the classifieds, doesnt seem like anything decent is being sold close to me, but im not buying right now, so its ok.

Thanks guys.

I've seen most of the S5 TIIs for that much, usually with a rebuild and some minor mods. Most people here end up buying a TII that doesn't run, or runs poorly, then fixes them up and usually buys the car for under $1000. So a 5-6k budget would net you a decent FC.

Good to hear, yeah, buying a FC that needs work is probably a better deal in the long run, but i dont have the room to do any serious work, and dont want a headache, just wanna get in and drive.

On a serious note, unless you pay a premium for a low millage one-owner all original ebay car (S5 TII's of this variety have sold for upwords of 15k recently on ebay) take your time. The S5 TIIs are more and more rare, and finding one that hasnt been completly fucked up is even harder. But they are out there. They key is to catch one that someone is just bored with but has been meticlously upgraded, cared for, and/or properly rebuilt.

Dont be in a hurry and be patient while looking for one. It could take a year or more to find the right car with cars like these. Meanwhile read what you should look for and look at when you are looking....like Aaron Cake's site and all the other FAQ info in this section.

hahaha. ok, you got me. I paid what I believe was the value of the car. I just didn't know the ******* ran the motor to the ground and lied about it being rebuilt.

oh and it's PAID, not payed (i'm telling you, stay away from the lounge FTC)

in all seriousness; buy an unmodified car or a MILDLY modified FC. When you buy a modified car you're also buying the problems and headaches.

Rotarynerdette just bought a BEAUTIFUL s4 TII, absolutely stock for $3500 I believe, down here in Dallas. Her turbo is flaking out now, but that's due to age, not due to any shenanigans. (How often do you get to drop a work like 'shenanigans' in your daily conversation?)

^on the daily. An S4 TII for 3K is not bad. It is not GREAT considering these cars were worth LESS before the whole drifting/initialD/rwd craze hit.

Yeah, i would like a mildly modded one, because honestly, im too lazy to do it my self. We'll thats not true, i like working on cars, i just want something that i will be happy with and not have to work on (hopefully) right away to get up to my standards, ya know?

Compression check will be done, and receipts will be asked for before any purchase.

I worry about buying pre-modded cars - nothing like trying to track down electrical problems on a harness that was redone with 37 identical black 18 gauge wires. If it's something like a bolt on exhaust or aftermarket wheels or struts or something, no big. If it's like a standalone and a different turbo, how do I know it's been tuned correctly? :P

I've come from the lounge to enforce the price quarantee.... wait, that's a bad tv commercial.

I'd either buy one that hasn't been fubared yet or one that has been done correctly or....

Car - 2k to 5k
Mods - 2k -5k
Fun - priceless

I'm not being much help am I? Buy a nice unmolested one in as nice of condition as you can find or afford and figure you'll want to spend a couple grand min on doing reliability mods and upgrades along with whatever might be worn out.

You might want to reconsider the broken car. I bought my '91 TII (broken motor) for $300. But the outside was not so hot so I bought a '89 NA 9Broken motor) for $500 with a great body and doing the conversion.

The best advice I can give you is to TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't try to rush yourself into a purchase. If you can find one with a properly installed standalone and a good fuel system, that will make just about anything else a piece of cake.
