Lots of electrical problems
Lots of electrical problems
I just picked myself up an 88 RX7 'vert today, in pretty good mechanical condition. Only problem is, it has a ton of minor electrical issues. The list is:
Warning lights+clock doesn't work (although the warning lights do turn on when the key is turned to the ON position)
Fuel gauge is busted (it shows full for about 1/4 of a tank, then drops to empty after that)
Temp gauge is broken (doesn't work at all)
Dash lights on the left side (so for all the gauges) doesnt work.
Passenger power window from driver side control doesnt work.
Windshield wipers only run on high, and doesnt work for anything else.
I'm going to check the fuses and try resoldering the cold joints, but is there anything else I should probably check?

Resolder board behind light cluster, or replace.
Replace sending unit in fuel tank.
A bad sending unit would peg the temp to H. Beyond that I dunno (must be in the dash?)
Dunno.
Open up controls. Shunt the switch with a wire and see if it works. If so, there's your problem. If not, keep tracing the wire back until you find the problem. A voltmeter with a conductivity tester may help.
Dunno.
I suspect bad solder joints and connections all around. Get a voltmeter and go to town.
