Unhappy loosing faith in rotary

ok there are so many things wrong with my FC
first of all i live in Toronto, and the weather is freezing so i can't work on it
my compression is bad i think (the oil pressure at idle is really low)
my alt is pumping out exactly 12 volts
it floods like a bitch
i got the hesitation problem
my TPS keeps messing up

is there any hope for me?
and btw, my car ran a bit better in the summer
could the cold cause these problems?

I know what you mean.....Mine doesn't cooperate that well in the cold either. What you need to do is bring your car back up to specs like when it was new. Most people only focus on "hoppping it up", but don't realize that by making some old parts new, they will indeed be making the car perform, better. For example the flooding. I had the same problem, i even bought this little relay from rx7.com that helped a little bit, but it couldn't compare to when i had the injectors cleaned, balanced and blueprinted. The car since then ( two years ago ) has flooded twice. Once due to a stall, by the driver. The gas mileage went up, performance and it idled better I've also replaced the starter and the alternator, with rebuilt units. ( try to get the ones with life time warranty) The TPS i simply bought new, although a used one will also work but eventually quit a lot sooner than the new one. The cats If they're stock...get rid of them. They flow like poop. An aftermarket one such as a Bonez unti will pass emissions and expel heat away from the motor a lot better. Also replace and zip tie every, vacuum line you come across. The performance capabilities of a 2nd gen are up there with some Porsches, and high end sports cars. The problem is that your car is old. Bring some life back into it and i promise you, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm also going through the same problems. I had a 90 GXL that was bulletproof. I decided to get an 87 TII the next year (I've been going through a car a year until this year). The TII was a car that I wanted for a while and figured I could build on and keep for a couple years. So anyways, I get it, and on the drive home the tranny starts going. After a couple weeks, I started having more and more problems. I haven't gotten to do any modifications because I've been trying to keep up with maintenance and fixing broken parts, and now my water pump went, leading to an alternator failure, and that, in turn, killed my battery and I needed to get towed home. I've also heard that I might need to replace my lower intake gasket. So it looks like I'll be having an alternator rebuilt, unless the second one I have is still good, and then driving home (120 miles) for winter break and ripping it apart again. That'll be more money down the drain that could've gone to some power mods and suspension mods. Pain in the ***, but at least it's worth it when I can get on the throttle and laugh at the honda boys. good luck with your car

I don't blame you, it's not quite warm in toronto right now, how about a storage place. nad perhaps one that is heated or climate controled, it may not be 70 degrees or what ever that is in celsius but it's not outside and you could get a heater for it. If you want to you'll find a way.

Don't go!

Keep the faith alive!

I hear ya on the constant run of problems. My 88 SE is doing it to me. Here's my list of run-me-wrongs:

Power sunroof, not so powerful
Wipers, when the union isn't striking
Clutch, gettin' mushy
Suspension in general, could be a lil better
Wish both mufflers worked, passenger is plugged

And the paint is showing it's age.

And, he is what I have done recently.

-New heater hoses, blew one and thankfully not the engine. It went out at idle speed.
-I needed new brushes for the starter
-New air filter
-New fuel filter
-The only cat I had plugged(only one present, two MIA)

The good thing, this winter it enters our shop and is coming out with a new aero kit, paint job, rebuilt wiper switch and re-wired power sunroof, RB dual exhaust, K&N cone filter and cold air intake, port polish manifold, new suspension, and urethane bushings everywhere.

Keep up on it. You know in your heart that you want to keep the car. Sure it is tempermental, but what woman isn't? Or wait, we are talking about the RX. But, she does kick some Honduh *** when she is in a good mood. Right?

That's what I thought.

Most (all?) of those storage places don't let you work in there for insurance reasons. Believe me, I tried finding one that allowed it.

You know posts with titles like this sadden me.

I just want to scream, " what do you expect you have a car that’s 10+ years old, you should be happy you have one", when I hear some say something like that.

I mean I have had American cars that have needed new motors, trannies and brakes at 20k miles.

I know people that have had bone stock Hondas that needed new computers, fuel pumps, distributors and all sorts of interior trim pieces replaced at 60k miles.

A 14 year old car is too good for people that don't appreciate a car that can rev to 7000 rpm every time you drive it.

No wonder less informed people think that rotary powered cars are crap.

I'll get off my soap box now.
