loose tail lights

The plastic for my left blinker on my tail lights is starting to come loose. Are they supposed to be able to come off from the outside... or are they supposed to be glued in? It kind of looks like it was glued in at some point, and I couldn't get it to snap back in, so I was wondering what I should use to get it to stay without having to worry about melting the plastic with the wrong type of glue. The car is an S5.

i *think* the outside covers are glued on. as for sticking it back...if at all possible i would want to remove the whole piece and reglue it on. i would probably use some "5 minute" epoxy that they sell at the local automotive store or some such. i had a piece of an edge chip off one of my tail lights and crack into a couple smaller pieces, i was able to use the epoxy very carefully and mend all the pieces back together decently without anything melting on me

They are held in by adhesive...

I hesitate to say glue because you may try the wrong kind and end up with a mess!

The FSM profiles the complete procedure for taking the outer lense off and on. You use a blow dryer/heat gun (on warm) to soften the adheasive so that they can be removed. If you are careful you can re-use the 'glue'

Page T-60 (body-electrical-system) describes the process in detail.

www.iluvmyrx7.com or www.1300cc.com have downloadedable versions of the FSM available.

Good luck!
