loose/clicking driver's seat track

the driver's seat base on my car shifts backward slightly with an audible and annoying click when I accelerate (it must be the awesome power of a bone-stock '87 NA ... )

the bolts holding the seat tracks to the floor are tight, as are the bolts holding the seat to the tracks. And the seat adjuster itself appears to be engaging properly on both sides. So I can't quite figure out where the free play is coming from, or how to fix it.

Ideas?

Mine flops around slightly too. I'll be interested to see if anybody knows exactly what the problem is. I have check my bolts too and they are all tight. Are there some nylon bushings or something in the track mechanism that are shot???

I posted this question last December and got exactly ONE reply. Am I the ONLY RX-7 owner in the world with the loose-seat problem (which is really irritating -- every time I accelerate hard, with my newly cleaned six-ports, the seat shifts back with a movement that can be heard and felt).

The problem is NOT the four mounting bolts that hold the seat tracks to the floor. They are good and tight. The seat adjusting mechanism also seems to be working smoothly. It's not the seat back -- it's the seat base.

All help appreciated. Much as I enjoy all these deep technical discussions about the R3/J85 terminal on the CPU etc., I think it's time to deal with some truly IMPORTANT problems on this site ...

My driver's seat is doing the same thing, it drifts up a little in the front inside track.

But its been really low on my priorities to troubleshoot.

More than likely the track is worn or slightly bent.

I will try and pull it apart next week and post what I find.

haha... My passenger seat does this too... I noticed while I was stranded on the side of the road yesterday... If anyone has any info about this, I'd be interested to hear it!
