Looking for feedback on carpet kits

i'm wondering who here has purchased an aftermarket carpet kit (full car) and what your thoughts on it are. price, fit, durability, etc? mine is a little haggard, and it's something i've thought about for replacing for a while, so i thought i'd ask the experts before i jump in.

Ive seen threads about it. I think Arron Cake got one. Most threeads say its a bit of a projust. the carpet doesnt want to sit right and it needs alot of trimming. I just got some good condition black carpet from a parts car.

From everything I have learned on here over the years is that most kits don't fit right, require dash removal, and just plain suck. I did hear of one person doing some good cuts and tucking the carp so they didn't have to remove entire dashboard.

I have been contemplating carpet replacement for a while, but I am not sure if I want to get aftermarket molded carpet, or just get some universal carpet and do it myself.

I have the ACC replacement carpet in my car. Suffice it to say I was not impressed. Though I have heard others have used ACC carpets and they have been fine so it may be hit or miss.

+1, agree with everyone. I have not been impressed either with the one i purchased. The quality of the carpet itself isnt bad, but there's like a hard waxy layer under the carpet thats acts as a real bitch when trying to install. It doesn't fit perfectly. I think i'll be paying an interior shop to do a custom job with, as mentioned above, universal carpet.

With the seemingly hit or miss aspect of aftermarket kits, you may consider starting a search for an OEM carpet in good shape. I paid more for my "used" OEM carpet than most aftermarket kits, but their will be no fitment issues whatsoever. The carpet I bought was in excellent condition - practically brand new. I think it will be well worth it once I install it.
