looking to buy a new rx-7

whats up? i dont actually own a rx-7 yet, but i found one i want to buy. i have a few questions id like to ask fist before i buy it...its an '87 turbo II it has 218,000K with a rebuilt engine, new turbo and muffler (all about 35,000K old). some people say the rotary engines last up to 500,000k, but i hear from a few friends of mine that owned rx-7s, that they usually have problems around 300,000k. so what i guess im asking is, although it has a rebuilt engine, would it be worth buying, or will parts start breaking down on me all the time and be stuck in a garage for the next year. and also how can i tell if this rebuilt engine is any good or if its just blowing seals all the time? id really appreciate any help on this.

I have only come across one rotory that has made it past the 300,000km barrier, but then again, I'm from Saskatchewan. Who ever told you that rotories last for 500,000km is either eating sh*t for breakfast or is talking about someone who has maticously taken care of his car.

With rebuilds you have to understand that the reason it was rebiult was that the engine was driven too hard or it was not taken care of properly. TII's have a tendancy to go before a n/a because of the turbo's. But, the tranny is a lot beefer than a n/a.

Because the car already has over 200,000km parts will need to be replaced as you go. Depending on the price of the car, you should set away money for repairs or you will have your car setting around untill extra cash becomes available.
