looking at an 88 to buy, and have questions...
I am looking to buy a TII. I finally found one in my area for a decent price. It is a 1988 TII. The car has 150,000 miles on it, but the engine was rebuilt by a Mazda dealer 55,000 miles ago and the transmission was rebuilt at about 70,000 miles. It was $3,700. The car is supposed to be in good condition with only minor dings on the passenger fender. He also said it had 89+ spec turbos.
1. Is this a good price for a car like this?
2. Does the 88 have antilock brakes?
3. What should I check for if I do go to see this car, Including the test drive.

That is a pretty good price if the compression is good.
I'm not too sure about the ABS part
There are a lot of things to check for when you go to see it, see if it has a boost gauge and make sure it has at least 7-8 psi of boost. Also again, i'd get a compressionc check, just to be sure. Just make sure it drives ok, and dosn't stuble. When driving it and you feel a slight hesitation at 3k rpm or a bit higher it's normal and most rx7's have that problem.
Hope this helps.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
antilock was an option in 88 for the GXL and T2
price is a little high but no too bad if the car is in good shape (I'd offer $2.8k, and go up to $3.2K)

I found out that they do not have ABS but (and I know I should probably already know this) do they have rear seats? I know that most FC's don't and the ones that do might as well not have them but I still need to know.
