Look what I got for $300
Project RX-7
Sorry for the lower quality pictures, but it was taken with a disposable. I believe the rear rotor is shot, but that is just speculation at this point. Have not had enough to time to check compression and such.
This is probably going to take a long time to restore as I have very little time as it is. Tell me what think.

Looks like a Sport.

Update
Today I checked the compression on the rotors and got some weird results. First of all I thought I was doing it wrong, because I was getting absolutely no reading on leading or trailing on both rotors.
I hooked the tester up to a tractor engine and had a friend crank it over and I was getting good bounces then. So, I went back and tried testing again and I still got no readings on either rotor. What gives?
Next thing... when I try to crank it I am getting just a whirr sound, with soft "whump" sound. The accessories in the engine will turn, but the engine will not catch at all. Tried starter fluid, but it just kind of chokes and does not catch. Listened for fuel pump sound in the hatch area and all I hear is silence when cranking or when the the key is on.
Suggestions, hints, criticisms?

Nice find!
How long has the car been sitting? Perhaps you really aren't getting any compression at all?
If I were you I'd check to see if there's any fuel pressure at the rails. Then I'd test each coil for spark.

I am way ahead of you and I should have posted this find before as well. Checked all four wires for spark and there is spark. The plugs are bit old, but still produce a decent spark to my eyes. Heh... also as a side note I am getting arcing between terminals on the trailing side. Kind of scary to watch, but it does not seem to hinder the spark.
ATF treatment... I did use some 2 cycle oil, crank it a bit, and put some more in as a precursor to really trying to start it. This seemed to have no effect.
It has been sitting in a barn for about 3 years is what the previous owner told me. I have no way of knowing, but it has sat long enough for both front tires to dry rot.
Have not tested fuel pressure yet, is there a "ghetto" way to do so or will I have to drop some more money into testing equipment?

But I'm not sure... my Daytona has one.

Power steering and A/C. It also has the color matched rear bins too.
Nevermind the rusts spots and dirt that has accumulated. Heh, heh...
